Body language - touching the head, hair?

Just curious while reading separate books on body language which tell me two paradoxical things. If (in both cases) a man gently touches a woman's head/hair, either in a playful manner like putting a hat on her or messing with her hair or smoothing it... Is it generally interpreted/accepted as somewhat of a "flirting" or "intimate" sign - particularly if she lets him - is comfortable with him smoothing her hair/touching gently? Or something else? Cheers! :-) (PS - not sure how it would go "in reverse", the books only refer to a man touching a woman's head...not the other way)

  1. Yes, that behavior is an intimacy indicator for both parties.
